Communication (and miscommunication) can make or break professional relationships. Conflicting styles, channels, and perspectives often lead to misunderstandings. Is someone communicating online when you wish they would just pick up the phone? Is a "city lawyer" from Manchester failing to see how things are done in New Hampshire's rural towns? Is a veteran attorney too stuck in his ways? Does a recent law grad need to be so overzealous? In preparation for a CLE session at the NHBA Midyear Meeting on March 7, the NH Bar Association wants to hear from you about frustrating communication snafus you have experienced (no need to name names here, folks). Your strictly ANONYMOUS comments and stories will be used to create the content for the panel discussion that will follow the morning speaker at the membership meeting. Please send your thoughts in an email to news@nhbar.org by Jan. 31. Thank you for helping to make this CLE more valuable for you and your colleagues. Register for Midyear Meeting before Feb. 7 to take advantage of the early bird discount.

A New Hampshire business of any size that supported the arts in 2013 is eligible for a Business in the Arts Award. Four winners will be named: one from each business-size category of microenterprise, small, medium and large. The Leadership Award will be given to a business executive to recognize exceptional leadership, vision and commitment in encouraging and developing the partnership between business and the arts. Awards will be announced at a banquet May 12 in Manchester. Download the nomination form at www.nhbca.com. For more information, contact Joan Goshgarian at 603 224-8300. Nominations are due Feb. 7.
