Remember those days of law school? Wonder what your classmates are up to now? Want to meet fellow alumni? The NHBA's Midyear Meeting presents the perfect opportunity for a reunion or meet-up. If you are interested in gathering graduates from your law school for a special dinner in Manchester around the time of Midyear Meeting on Friday, March 7, the NH Bar Association can help.

Staff at the NH Bar Center can provide lists of alumni and mailing labels, a sample invitation letter and response form, and contact information for Manchester-area restaurants for making group dinner reservations. The bar association also publishes detail about scheduled law school alumni dinners in Bar News.

If you are interested in coordinating a law school dinner for your alumni, please contact Deanna Bennett.

The NHBA Ethics Committee has been writing brief commentaries on frequently asked questions or timely areas for the past couple of years. Check out the Ethics Corner page.

For an archive of all formal opinions or info on how to contact the Committee with your query, visit the Ethics Committee's main publications page.

Interested in meeting other lawyers from around the state? Interested in the governance of the Bar Association? Consider running for the NHBA Board of Governors. Petitions are being accepted for the following positions that will open for the Association year beginning in June 2014:

Vice President
Governor at Large (two vacancies, three-year terms)
County governors (two-year terms, except as noted) representing:
· Belknap
· Carroll
· Cheshire (special election to complete one-year term)
· Hillsborough North
· Hillsborough South
· Strafford
· Sullivan
Also: Association delegate to the American Bar Association House of Delegates.
The deadline for petitions is March 1. The election, by online ballot, takes place in April. No fewer than 10 active member signatures are required for a nomination petition for a governor representing a county; no fewer than 25 active member signatures are required for an officer, governor at large or public sector governor. Bar members may sign only one petition for a county position on the Board representing the county where the signer's principal office is located. Download the NHBA Board Nomination Petition.

Saint Anselm College will host the American Mock Trial Association's Regional Mock Trial Tournament from Jan. 31 - Feb. 2, 2014. The format will be the same as previous years: round 1 on Friday evening; rounds 2 & 3 on Saturday; round 4 on Sunday, followed by the awards banquet in Davison Hall.

Judges are needed to evaluate the 24 teams that will be invited by AMTA to compete. That means about 36 judges will be needed per round. Register to be a judge. Refreshments will be available for judges at the event.

Pro Bono will begin sending case updates--critical for satisfying federal funding requirements--via email in early January. The sender will be a Pro Bono staff member. The Subject Line will read: Pro Bono Referral Program Request for Attorney Update.

Attached to the email will be a case update for each of your specific open cases as well as a final disposition form for cases you have finished. Your completed forms can be emailed, faxed or sent via regular mail to our office. Pro Bono relies on your input for continued grant funding and we are hoping this new system will make reporting on cases easier. If you have questions or concerns, please contact mgilsenberg@nhbar.org or cwooding@nhbar.org.
