The 6th Circuit Court in Concord has scheduled a brown bag discussion meeting for the Family Division Marital at noon on Friday, Jan. 24. This meeting will provide everyone an opportunity to discuss issues with Marital Master Geiger and discuss the assignment of a Family Division Judge. Not for CLE credit.

Want to organize one for your law school? The Bar Association can help you set one up in conjunction with the meeting, which is scheduled for Friday, March 7, at the Radisson Hotel/Center of NH in Manchester. Bar staff provides contact information for Manchester-area restaurants for making group dinner arrangements, a sample invitation letter and response form, and a set of alumni mailing labels from the Bar's member database. The Bar will also publish details of law school dinners in Bar News and on the bar's website. Paul Martineau, welfare commissioner for the City of Manchester, is seeking volunteer lawyers to do pro bono service by conducting hearings on city welfare appeals. When welfare clients get an adverse decision from welfare specialists, the client can request a Fair Hearing, to be held within seven working days. There's still one more chance to volunteer for a Pro Bono year-end referral marathon - this Friday, Dec. 20. Pro Bono staff will provide the cases, the phones, and the lists of potential volunteers to call. You just call your colleagues and discuss whether they might be able to help a pro bono client.

Applications now being accepted for the full-time Magistrate Judge vacancy created by the appointment of Magistrate Judge Landya B. McCafferty as a District Judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. The expected appointment date for this position is May-June, 2014.
The current salary of the position is $160,080. The term of office is 8 years.
