 In the next two weeks, the Bar Assocation is holding a series of live in-person demonstrations, thanks to several Bar members, at law offices in Portsmouth, Nashua, Laconia and Newport, of Casemaker and Fastcase, two online legal research libraries serving bar associations. Jim Corbett, a legal publishing industry veteran, will also demonstrate Casemaker and answer your research questions on Sept. 25 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Bar Center. Phil Rosenthal, co-founder of Fastcase, will discuss his company's research tool on Oct. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bar Center. Corbett will also lead a Casemaker demonstration for the Solo & Small Firm networking group on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. See our page for other demo opportunities.

The NH Attorney General's Office is hosting a free daylong training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, titled, "Keeping the Brain in Mind: The Impact of Trauma and Attachment Disruptions on Learning and Behavior." (Not for CLE credit).The training will be held at the Richard M. Flynn Fire Academy in Concord and is limited to 100 participants. Registration is required by Oct. 4. The University of New Hampshire will host its 5th Annual Intercollegiate Mock Trial Invitational Tournament for undergraduates during the weekend of Oct. 26-27, at UNH's campus in Durham. The tournament needs attorneys willing to serve as judges, presiding over mock trial rounds and evaluating students' performances. Attorneys do not need to be sitting judges, active litigators, or familiar with college mock trial to participate. Judges will receive a brief training that will equip them for the task. For each day, there will be one morning and one afternoon trial session.  The 9th Circuit Family Division in Manchester invites marital and family law attorneys to a brown bag luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Practitioners are invited to bring a lunch and join family division judges and staff for general discussion, including a period for questions and answers. The NH Women's Bar Association will present the 2013 Marilla M. Ricker Achievement Award to Hon. Tina L. Nadeau, chief justice of the NH Superior Court at its 16th Annual Fall Reception. The event is at the Concord Country Club from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19. The reception is open to the public. No RSVP is required.
Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided. At the reception, the Winnie McLaughlin Scholarship will be presented to Lindsay Whitelaw, a second-year law student at UNH School of Law. A raffle to benefit the Winnie McLaughlin Scholarship Fund will also be held.
