Deadline to Apply for Judgeships Extended - 8/30
Due to the recent announcement that Superior Court Judge John Lewis will retire next month, the NH Judicial Selection Commission has extended to Aug. 30 the deadline for submission of superior court judgeship applications.

Each applicant must submit the application and all accompanying documents, including writing samples, via email only to jscapplications2013@gmail.com. Please direct questions to Co-Chairs Emily Gray Rice (665-8824) or Jim Rosenberg (225-7262).
The application has been revised this year and may be downloaded from the websites of the Governor or the NH Bar Association. Applications may also be requested by calling (603) 271-7677. Please be sure to use the 2013 application. |

Superior Court Launches Jury Software
The NH Superior Court recently rolled out its new jury management software. The first summonses in the new system were mailed out last week, and the first jury selection using the new software is scheduled in Grafton County on Sept. 4. Superior Court Chief Justice Tina Nadeau described the new system in a letter sent to court clerks and the NH Bar, for distribution to attorneys. Under the new system, when an attorney or a self-represented litigant requests a copy of juror questionnaires, they will receive a summary of each juror's questionnaire, rather than a copy of the actual questionnaire. The summaries will be delivered to the attorney or self-represented litigant by email, for a flat fee of $50. For more information about the new jury management system, check out this article from the June 21 issue of NH Bar News.

Amicus briefs should focus on the ramifications of a decision and not solely on the interests of the parties filing such briefs. A copy of the Belknap Superior Court order has been posted with the Supreme Court announcement about the amicus submissions, which are due by Sept. 13. The Nashua Telegraph recently published this article on the topic.
