NHBA Award Winners Named
The following awards will be presented at the NHBA Midyear Meeting on March 8:

Outstanding Service in Public Sector/Public Interest Law Award: Alan Linder is senior staff attorney at New Hampshire Legal Assistance, where he has worked for nearly 30 years. He is well known and respected for his skills as an advocate for low-income citizens and as a mentor to new lawyers. Linder has argued many complicated cases before the NH Public Utilities Commission, in some instances persuading PUC staff to make rules and adopt policies that protect low-income consumers.

Distinguished Service to the Public Award: Margaret H. Nelson, Sulloway & Hollis. Nelson has just stepped down after 16 years as a member and chair of the Professional Conduct Committee, including assisting in the development of the revamped attorney discipline process.

Vickie M. Bunnell Award for Community Service: Christopher T. Regan of Durham. Regan, an at-large governor on the NHBA Board of Governors, is a classic example of the small-firm practitioner, active both in his community and his profession. Regan serves as the moderator for the Town of Durham in addition to other community and bar involvements.

L. Jonathan Ross Award for Outstanding Commitment to Legal Services for the Poor: David L. Nixon. Nixon has been both a mentor and an active Pro Bono volunteer, particularly with the DOVE Project in recent years.

More Pro Bono award winners will be announced soon!

Awards will be presented at the Midyear Meeting Honors & Awards Luncheon, which will also include a celebration of 40 years of service to justice by the NH Public Defender Program.

Find out more about the awards luncheon. Register online for Midyear Meeting or download a registration form.

New Features on Online Immigration System
As of Jan. 14, new features of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services Electronic Immigration System (USCIS ELIS) allow attorneys and accredited representatives to electronically interact with clients, who can now verify, review and e-sign benefit requests. To access USCIS ELIS, visit www.uscis.gov/uscis-elis.

Two webinars are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14, for those interested in learning about the new features and asking questions about the system. To participate, email public.engagement@uscis.dhs.gov at least one day before the sessions.

Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing
The ABA Task Force on Gatekeeper Regulation and the Profession has worked with other entities to develop voluntary good-practices guidance for lawyers to combat money laundering and terrorist financing. The Task Force has concerns about how mandatory gatekeeper provisions might affect confidential attorney-client relationships and other issues. Below are two publications from the ABA Task Force.
Storm Ahead? Is My Bar Meeting On?
In the event of inclement weather, closings or delayed openings at the Bar Center will be communicated via the Bar's website and on our voicemail greeting at the Bar Center.

If the Bar Center is experiencing a delayed opening, we will be open as soon as is reasonably possible for staff to safely get in to the office. If you are in doubt about the status of any meeting, please call the Bar Center at 603715-3279 (EASY) before you head out.

Courts' Inclement Weather Policy
It is the policy of the New Hampshire Judicial Branch to provide access to justice despite inclement weather. Clerks and Registers will make every reasonable effort to ensure that staff are available to answer the telephone, respond to inquiries at the public counter, and accept filings, whatever the weather.

For announcements, follow NHCourts on Twitter or visit the Judicial Branch website.
