Circuit Court Phone Number
Effective immediately, the new toll-free phone number for all Circuit Court locations is 1-855-212-1234.

Individual phone numbers for Circuit Court locations will eventually be phased out. All phone numbers are answered by the Circuit Court Call Center.

e-Court Public Forum - 2/5
Chief Justice Dalianis, Justice Gary Hicks and Peter Croteau, Judicial Branch Chief Technology Officer and e-Court project manager, will discuss progress and recent accomplishments of the effort to convert the delivery of services to a mostly electronic court system at a public forum at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5 at the Administrative Office of the Courts. The forum will last about one hour.

The Judicial Branch's e-Court website has been updated with new project information.

PAD Rules to Apply Statewide - 3/1
The Proportional Discovery and Automatic Disclosure (PAD) Rules now in use in the pilot counties of Grafton, Strafford and Hillsborough will apply to all new cases in NH Superior Court starting March 1. The rules are temporary rules.

The NHBA CLE program is offering a new live program to update practitioners.

Early-Bird Deadline Nears for Midyear Meeting - 2/1
Register for Midyear Meeting by Feb. 1 for special pricing - $100 for two CLEs and lunch. The price is $50 for new lawyers. This year's Professionalism Day at MYM is going to be a dynamic and engaging event. Register online now.

Board of Governors Nominations - 3/1
Petitions for nominations to the NHBA Board of Governors will be accepted until March 1, 2013. Positions for which nominations are being accepted:
  • Vice President
  • Governor at Large (one vacancy, three-year term)
  • County governors (two-year terms) representing:
       - Cheshire
       - Coos
       - Grafton
       - Merrimack
       - Rockingham
Balloting will take place from April 1 to until the close of business on April 15, 2013. Balloting is conducted online. Those eligible to vote are active-status members (dues fully paid). Details about online voting will be provided in February.

7th Circuit Non-Marital Cases
Beginning this month, the following Family Division case types will be heard at the 7th Circuit courthouse at 76 North Main St., Rochester:
  • Delinquency
  • CHINS
  • Abuse and Neglect
  • Guardianship of Minor
  • Termination of Parental Rights
  • Name changes (related to Family Division cases)
  • Domestic Violence
As of Jan. 2, the only Family Division cases that will be heard at the Strafford County building location will be divorce and parenting cases and those domestic violence cases related to pending Rochester Family Division divorce/parenting cases.

Volunteers to host Lawline are needed for 2013. Just two hours of your time is needed on the second Wednesday of the month to answer calls from people who have legal questions and need your assistance. You can answer calls from the comfort of your own home or your office. For more information, please contact Lisha Brosseau today.

Solo/Small Firm Group - 1/24
The solo/small firm group holds its next meeting tomorrow (Jan. 24) at the Bar Center from 3-5 p.m. Come, share and learn with colleagues from solo and small-firm practice settings. Topics are determined by the group.

Foundation Award Solicitations - 4/1
The NH Bar Foundation is currently accepting nominations for the Robert E. Kirby Award and the Frank Rowe Kenison Award.

The Robert E. Kirby Award was established in 1996 to honor the memory of Bob Kirby, a young lawyer "of great skill, civility and good humor" who died that year at age 35. Kirby was an attorney with the Concord law firm of Gallagher, Callahan & Gartrell. Award recipients must be 35 or younger and must exhibit civility, courtesy, perspective, and excellent advocacy. Kirby Award nomination form.

The Frank Rowe Kenison Award is presented annually to an individual or group who makes substantial contributions to the betterment of New Hampshire citizens through the administration of justice, the legal profession, or the advancement of legal thought. Recipients need not be bar members. Kenison Award nomination form.

Nominations should be submitted to the NH Bar Foundation at 2 Pillsbury St., Suite 300, Concord, NH 03301, or emailed to mwhite@nhbarfoundation.org, by April 1, 2013.
