The Bar Center will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 24, 25, and 31, 2012 and Jan. 1, 2013. There will be no e-Bulletin on Dec. 26.

LRS Needs Foreclosure Attorneys
LRS has a particular need for attorneys with practices in Belknap, Carroll, Cheshire, Strafford and Sullivan counties for real estate foreclosures and/or mortgage modification issues.

If you are interested and would like to join the Lawyer Referral Service, you may download the LRS Membership Application or contact us at lrsreferral@nhbar.org. If you are already a member, please email your interest in adding these case types to your existing panels.

IRS Practitioner - Virtual Meeting - 1/18
The IRS's New Hampshire Practitioner Liaison Meeting has been scheduled for Jan. 18, 2013, from 9 a.m. - noon. For the first time, this meeting will be held "virtually" so you can attend from the comfort of your home or office!

During this virtual meeting, you will have the opportunity to speak with a variety of IRS representatives to discuss current issues that are important to you. We hope that you will save this date.

Is Your Court Closed Due to Weather?
The NH Judicial Branch aims to keep courts open regardless of weather conditions, but in special circumstances, closures are posted on the "nhcourts" Twitter feed.

6th Circuit - Family Div. Meeting - 1/14
The 6th Circuit Family Division in Hillsborough will hold a roundtable discussion with practitioners and court staff on Jan. 14 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Circuit Court, 15 Antrim Road, Hillsborough.

Judge Weeks Portrait Unveiling - 12/27
Colleagues, family and friends of the late Judge Albert H. "Kip" Weeks will gather at the Cheshire County courthouse in Keene at 10 a.m. on Dec. 27 for the presentation of a portrait of Judge Weeks, who served as a probate judge for 12 years, to the courthouse.

The portrait will hang in the 8th Circuit probate courtroom in the Keene courthouse, where Judge Weeks presided.

The portrait, paid for by private contributions, will be presented by NH Supreme Court Chief Justice Linda Stewart Dalianis and Deputy Circuit Court Administrative Judge David King. A brief reception will follow.

Nashua - Trial Competition Site - 1/31-2/3
NH has been selected as a regional site for the 38th Annual National Trial Competition for law students. It will take place at Hillsborough County Superior Court - Southern District on the evenings of Thursday, Jan. 31, and Friday, Feb. 1, all day Saturday, Feb. 2, and in the morning on Sunday, Feb. 3, in collaboration with the UNH School of Law, the NH Judicial Branch, the Nashua Bar Association, the Mayor of Nashua, and the Nashua Chamber of Commerce.

Twenty law schools are participating. Bar members with experience in litigation are needed to serve in 108 positions as presiding judges or scoring jurors during the four-day event. Read a memo about the 2013 Northeast Regional National Trial Competition at Nashua.

Help Needed - We the People Finals - 1/11
Participate in an exciting educational program by volunteering to help with the We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution state finals on Friday, Jan. 11, at the Legislative Office Building in Concord. Timers and backup judges are needed for either morning or afternoon sessions, or both.

Orientation for volunteers starts at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. The afternoon session follows lunch and ends at about 3:30 p.m. Contact Robin E. Knippers for information.

Rochester Non-Family Cases Moving - 1/2
Beginning Jan. 2, 2013, the following Family Division case types will be heard at the Circuit 7 courthouse in Rochester at 76 North Main St., Rochester:

* Delinquency
* CHINS
* Abuse and Neglect
* Guardianship of Minor
  * Termination of Parental Rights
* Name changes (related
to Family Division cases)
* Domestic Violence

As of Jan. 2, the only family division cases that will continue to be heard at the Strafford County Building location will be divorce and parenting cases and domestic violence cases related to pending Rochester Family Division divorce/parenting cases.

Criminal Law Topics in January Bar News
Next month, Bar News will be publishing an attention-getting issue with a special section on criminal law that will feature two perspectives on the jury nullification law that takes effect Jan. 1, an overview of developments in criminal law in 2012, and a NH lawyer's tips on serving as a TV legal analyst.

Additional criminal law articles will be accepted on a space-available basis only.
