Mostly overcast and warm. 75°F. 2-6 mph. 20 participants.
 
Today, we went looking for birds (of course), but a moose was seen at Walden Ponds

yesterday so we were really looking hard for it, as well. No moose, but we did see some great birds. As you will see from the slide show, birds are still nesting and baby birds are fledging.

Green herons are small dark herons with huge yellow feet who keep their necks scrunched up so they look short necked usually. However, when needed as you see in the slides, they will

stretch their neck and almost look like a different species. Green herons will sometimes cast bits of floating material out to drop on the water and attract fish looking for something to eat. Instead, the heron is the one doing the eating. Very clever.
