Saturday Bird Walk - Bird Count - Feb 13, 2016
Foggy, cool, and more fog. 30°F. 2-8 mph. 15 participants.

It's hard to find birds when it's foggy, especially when it's really foggy. The fog was indeed thick this morning and it hampered our efforts to find birds, but it was also beautiful and magical. We've had more fog this winter than I can ever remember in the 27 years history of the Saturday Morning Bird Walks. See the slide show for great bird and fog pictures.

Creepers seem to be plentiful this winter. To see four of them along the creek path was special. We were in need of some good bird activity when they showed up. It's always entertaining to watch their quick jerky movements up the tree trunks and large branches before they fly down to the base of another tree (or the same tree) to start again. Despite their lively motions, they are still hard to find because they hold their bark-colored bodies against the trunks.
