Greater White-Fronted Goose

For the second week in a row, we saw a mink near Boulder Creek. Lots of waterfowl, but not many passerines this morning. I have been on several bird walks where I discover I have "seen" a bird only after I look at my photographs. It happened to us this morning with the Greater White-Fronted Goose. It is notoriously hard to pick one out of a sea of Canada Geese. If only we had caught that bird while we were still there. It could have been Bird of the Day.

Snow Goose -

Today, we spotted our Bird of the Day going 50 mph on Arapahoe Ave. Well, at least we couldtell it was a white goose. Although it may be tedious, it's always a good idea to spend some time searching through the vast flocks of Canada Geese. Really different ones like white Ross's and snow geese stick out, but others like greater white-fronted geese or hybrids are tougher to discern.
