Saturday Bird Walk - Bird Count - Jan 16, 2016
Sunny and cool. 20°F. 1-6 mph. 10 participants.
We had a captive audience this morning. The waterfowl and gulls at Erie Reservoir didn't have any other place to go for open water nearby, so they just sat there and let us get closer than normal. It was packed too. See the slide show for some great duck and goose images (as well as other things)

Ross's Goose and Snow-Canada Goose Hybrid İSteve Frye

This winter we saw a lot of white geese (Ross's and snow) early on, but they have become rather scarce in the last few months. Today, we got a nice, but brief look at a Ross's Goose. Watch the slide show to see this bird and also note the snow x Canada Goose hybrid with the white head right in front of it. Ross's Geese visit us during the winter from their breeding grounds in the high arctic.
