We got stuck at Sombrero Marsh trying to get a glimpse of the marsh wrens and soras. Both are very secretive and it takes a good deal a patience to see them. Both were calling, but they only offered fleeting looks. Still, the thrill of the hunt kept us looking and hoping so it was enjoyable. We had another good day of insect watching along with the birds this morning. See the slide show to view some of our finds. Also, I welcome input on my identifications. This insect stuff is not my forte. Thanks.

 Red-Tailed Hawk
A very cooperative red-tailed hawk showed itself at Sawhill Ponds this morning. Our first view came when the hawk flew out of a cottonwood to the meadow below. Whatever it was trying to catch must have gotten away, but it stayed walking around looking for the escapee for a couple of minutes. Then it was back to the cottonwood where it seemed unconcerned with our presence.
