On warm (hot) days in the summer, our bird walk gets going a little too late to catch the best bird activity. Still, we had some great experiences-an osprey family of five overhead, a hidden owl, great dragonflies, and still lots of babies and nesting. Migration continues with shorebirds this month.

Western Wood Pewee  
Let's hear it for the common birds! After watching the adult Western Wood-Pewees collect numerous cabbage white butterflies and feed them to their nestlings, it was easy to pick this week's Bird of the Day. The rate of prey delivery was quite impressive, not a minute would go by without one of the adults feeding at the nest. Check out Jane Baryames' video from the walk on the link below.
