Bald Eagle
When we arrived at the eagles' nest site the male (presumably) was perched on a branch close to us. The other eagle was incubating on their nest. Male and female bald eagles are identical except the female averages 4% larger than the male so it is very difficult to distinguish between the two even if they are side-by-side. I don't know the number of bald eagle nests now in the county, but there has been a virtual explosion of them in the last ten years. When I first opened the store in 1989 there were no nests and not any real expectations for nesting. It's fascinating to watch these kind of changes unfold, you just have to be attuned to what's going on.
