Saturday, January 24, 2015 Bird Walk

We have started joking on our walks about it always being cloudy on Saturday mornings. It doesn't really matter bird-wise, but it's not so great for photography. Anyway, it was nice to get outside and see what we could see today.

  American Dipper

I was lamenting making a choice for Bird of the Day as we were winding up our walk. I thought I might have to get out the dart board and make a random selection because no species had made a big impression on the walk up until the end. As we were walking back to the cars, Eileen said "did you see that bird flying just above the creek? It was flying so fast". That got me excited because dippers are dark birds that fly fast just above the water. Sure enough, as we approached the cars we saw an American Dipper in the creek.
