Sunny and mild. 65°F. 2-6 mph. 18 participants.

We had a beautiful fall morning to bird walk today. At Sombrero we lucked into a group of warblers coming through. Very active. We are still in good songbird migration and the hawks are coming through.

Marsh Wren

In a perfect world, the effort to see a bird would have a proportionate positive correlation with your view of the bird. This morning we could hear a close and very active marsh wren in the reeds. We followed its vocalizations and saw the movement of reeds and even saw something moving amongst the reeds, but we never got a good view of the wren. I was able to see its head for a while before being chased off by another wren. We never got a great look at the bird despite our efforts, but it was fun just to listen to its continuous calling and singing. Needless to say, none of us were able to get a photo of this bird so I am including this image of a marsh wren taken by one of our regular photographers, Eddie Israel. Thanks Eddie.
