Fall songbird migration seems to be in full swing. Get outside now! We had a wonderful walk along the now placid St. Vrain River. One year ago, we would have been birding under about eight feet of water where we were today. A new visitor to Golden Ponds might not even realize that a flood had occurred a year ago. Nature heals and people build. We had a sharp-shinned hawk that kept crossing our path this morning. While I enjoy seeing sharpies, it does tend to clear the rest of the birds out. At one point, the sharp-shinned flew away from us and in the distance we saw huge clouds of songbirds scattering to avoid capture.
