We had great activity up on Rabbit this morning for later in the summer. As we drove to Rabbit Mountain, the fences were loaded with western kingbirds. It may be related to the great number of grasshoppers out there!

I couldn't believe the number of kestrels all hanging out around the ridge of Rabbit Mountain. They were all swooping around, chasing each other and harassing the magpies and red-tails--acting like teenagers. These birds must have been an assemblage of at least two families. Very active and fun to watch.
