Steve's Trip to Manitoulin Island in
Lake Huron, Ontario, Canada
June 16-24, 2014

binoculars and child

My family, including my mom, took a vacation to Canada in June. We were visiting friends who have a five acre island in Lake Huron just north of Manitoulin Island (the world's largest freshwater island). It was great to be back in the north country and in eastern woodlands again. I forgot how hard it is to find birds with all the understory and trees, but I loved all the smells and sounds. We had a great week and were away from phones and screens. One of the amazing happenings on the island was a phenomenal dragonfly hatch which helped tremendously with the mosquitoes. I have never seen so many dragonflies. I hope you enjoy the slide show.
