Today, we were reminded of how important bird watching can be. Along the Boulder Creek Trail we met a long-time customer Elizabeth sitting on her walker with her Ziess binoculars, patiently waiting. See hadn't seen much (including the yellow-throated warbler we were also looking for), but she was delighted to have watched a pair of robins. Bird watching is a lifestyle more than just a pastime. When you are a bird watcher you are always looking for birds (even indoors). It develops ones sense of wonder and appreciation, gets you outdoors, is a stress reliever, keeps you mentally sharp, is socially interactive, and it's just down-right fun. Elizabeth turned 100 years old in February.

Yellow Warbler
One of the most "conspicuous" birds from this morning was the yellow warbler. We never got a great look at one, but we did see many hopping about in the tree tops. The aspect that was with us all day was their song. Everywhere we went today, we could hear the yellows belting out their bright and bouncy song. It is a real constant in May and June along riparian zones in Colorado. Listen to the following recordings and pay attention to them when you are out in the next few weeks.
