Savannah Sparrow
Savannah Sparrow
I saw a bird hiding near the shore of Lagerman. I approached slowly and the bird skittered along the shore. I kept pushing it along for a while until I broke off the chase to look at some shorebirds. Well, the bird must have felt slighted because it flew up to a nearby fence and gave us all a long look in great light. At first, I thought it was a grasshopper sparrow because it seemed so yellow in the morning light, but its head was not nearly flat enough for a grasshopper. Pete Dunne describes a savannah sparrow as a bird that looks like it has been eating pollen..
