For yet another time this winter, we timed the bird walk with the passing of a cold front. Bird walks are always good, but this one was a bit less pleasant than most. However, even on walks with harsh weather there is always something interesting to see, hear, and experience.

Great-Tailed Grackle
We went to check the Feed Lot at Teller Farms for rusty blackbirds. Rusty blackbirds are threatened and an effort is underway to document their migration north to their boreal nesting areas. On this chilly morning I thought we might find a few mixed in with the red-wings even though they prefer wetland habitats. We did, however, find a great-tailed grackle making his raucous noises.
