March 1, 2014
Heavy snow, windy and cold. 15°F. 10-15 mph. 4 hardy participants.
|

March came in like a lamb according to the logic of my kids when they were toddlers because it was white and fluffy. It may have looked lamb-like, but it was fierce and more lion-like when we were walking against the wind. We wanted to find the rusty blackbirds that had been reported at Sawhill, but all smaller birds, including the blackbirds, were nowhere to be found. They all were hunkered down waiting out the snow. So mostly we saw waterfowl through our snow-caked binoculars and cameras.
