Sunny and warm. 45°F. 2-4 mph. 15 participants.
binoculars and child Sorry this note is reaching everyone so late after Saturday. I have been struggling to identify the gulls we saw on the walk. I am not well versed on gull identification, but I am trying to get better. As they say, that is the first step. Actually, my first step has been just to start enjoying observing gulls and paying some attention to them. Now, I need the knowledge part to increase. Teller Farms Pond #5 is great this winter for gull watching because it dried up and is littered with dead fish. Please send me an email to WBCBoulderCO@aol.com if you see any issues with the gulls I have identified in the photos. Thanks, Steve.

American Kestrel

I suppose one our gulls should have been the bird of the day, but the Kestrel we saw put on quite a show and was a definite highlight for most of our birders this morning. Thanks to all the photographers on the trip this morning.

Rolando Garcia sent us this image of spotless starlings from Southern Spain. These birds are obviously related to European Starlings, but note the glossier plumage and the bicolored beak.
