November 10, 2012  Cloudy with a north wind and occasional rain/snow mix. 35°F. 2-10 mph. 6 participants.

We went to Teller Farm Open Space this morning to see if we could discover some redpolls. We normally do not have redpolls this far south, but several flocks have been spotted around Colorado in the last few weeks. Common redpolls are related to goldfinches so I figured a good place to look for them would be a good winter goldfinch area like Teller. We didn't find any redpolls, but it was a longshot to begin with.

Harris's Sparrow
This was our first bird of the day (and the least common). Many Harris's have shown up in Colorado this winter. At one point, I almost got a picture of the white-throated and Harris's together. It was like being 400 miles east of here. Thanks to Edie Israel for the images from today's chilly walk.
