Every Saturday year-round. No reservations required.  Every last Saturday of the month we travel further afield than normal and return a little later.  Bird Walk locations are determined on the morning of the walk.All ages and birding abilities are welcome!

binoculars and childOur "Look for Loons" walk this morning did not turn up any loons, but be on the lookout these next few weeks because this is the time of year they come through Boulder County. More of the diving ducks like goldeneyes and buffleheads seem to be coming in.

Today's bird could have been any number of species, but I really like hooded mergansers and they did give us a good show so they won the honors. The males all had their hoods up showing off to each other in a calm inlet at Valmont. They were too far off for a good photo so today's bird of the day image is from Wild Bird Center Staffer Wendy Stuart's portfolio.
