South Mesa was slow this morning. Perhaps we were there before the birds woke up. I had hoped to catch a few warblers there. Anyway, it didn't make much sense to stay there so we hit the road. We recovered somewhat at Centennial Trail.

Northern Harrier
We watched a harrier hunting over the meadow at Centennial Trail for a long time. Then it perched and we heard it call. We had a great look at it through the scope. I haven't heard harriers call very often, but they have a sound a little like a drawn out downy woodpecker. There is a squeakiness to their call. I forgot my camera this morning so the image for today was taken previously by Wild Bird Center Customer Wayne Johnston. Thanks Wayne.
