Pantone Fashion Color Palette
for Spring 2015
For designing people, the name Pantone elicits a grande knowledge of color - shades, harmonies, and what's trending:
"This season there is a move toward
the cooler and softer side of the color spectrum. An eclectic, ethereal mix of understated brights, pale pastels and nature-like neutrals take center stage as designers draw from daydreams of simpler times. Remembrances of retro delights, folkloric and floral art, and
the magical worlds of tropical landscapes restore a sense of well-being as we head into
warmer months."
Our color collage above highlights swatches from currently in stock DWB skirts, blouses, and dresses. For additional colorful inspiration, see the new
Color Palette from
In a prescient Sarasota forecast, this color Pantone calls Scuba Blue can be seen in our Bay's waters, especially this time of year around 3pm when coming or going over the John Ringling Bridge. We don't really mean to rub it in, but visitors and snowbirds alike would do well to note how close this is to postcard perfect...

Bags & Shoes
You know that feeling when you look in the closet and....same old, same old.
Sometimes all it takes to freshen a wardrobe is that perfect little bag, or just the right color shoe. DWB has it all - embellished with studs, grommets, croco stamped leather, beads, embroidery, or a map of the world. Paloma Picasso did a sweet version of a bag in this convertible clutch-to-shoulder envelope, pictured below. Would you say this color is a hue of seafoam green, or the palest of blues? (Hint: it depends on the light....)

Pull-Together Separates
When asked what one would wear with this lovely white and tangerine striped Joan McGee designed top with the blousy posey (above), DWB's Annie Sundeen didn't miss a beat when saying "A creamy off-white is all that's needed. Top and long pant."
Add a matching...or contrasting...shoe and bag, and you'll be dressed perfectly for that next upcoming performance at the Asolo Rep.

Appreciating Fine Craftsmanship
|
So, did you watch the Oscars? Or at least the high drama of the Red Carpet fashions? Aside from Lady Gaga's voluminous custom Alaia gown, there was that sleek Calvin Klein Collection number worn by actress Lupita Nyong'o - with 6,000 pearls embroidered into it. Sarasota's Asolo Repertory Theater may not showcase quite such highly embellished gowns, but they do engage fine craftsmanship in their costume preparations. Get a glimpse into the inner workings of their costume shop in this behind the scenes video clip for their upcoming production of "Our Betters" by W. Somerset Maugham, directed by Michael Donald Edwards.
