The Upper Level Estate Sales Galleries
Delivering the Bling
Dressing your home has parallels in how you dress yourself, for every day and special occasions. In styling a home, one chooses practical yet well-constructed furnishings the way one begins dressing each morning - by slipping into comfortable and lovely "foundations".
The fun part is building to that bling - the stellar piece of art glass atop a great antique table, or the one-of-a-kind ring you put on your finger as a final flourish before walking out the door.
In the DWB Upper Level Estate Sales Galleries you'll find plenty of foundations and bling for your home. Watch the coming issues of our NewsFlash for stories about the traditional, transitional, and modern pieces our clients love.
Items chosen to go into our Upper Level Galleries get the white glove treatment. To hear about our special services whether you are redecorating, downsizing, or have an estate to consign or donate, connect with us by calling 941-366-5299. Christian or Rebecca in our Estates Division will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Master Woodworking, Bone China
Our latest arrival at DWB is from a genteel woman whose designer in NYC was David Lawrence Roth. David's sensibility was sedate and refined. He had an antiques shop in the country and a design shop on Madison Avenue. He commissioned for our consignor several large chairs from a master woodworker, one of which is shown alongside a similarly substantial footed metal basket of bright artichokes and lush hydrangeas. The chairs are wrought meticulously and are in mint condition, as is the banquet-sized Kittinger table - which has two leaves, not shown - with its signature mirror finish. Our table is set with pale lemony yellow linens and Billingsley Rose Spode china.

Della Robia - Flashed Glass double-handled sugar bowl by Westmoreland ca. 1928-1940

Della Robbia-Flashed by Westmoreland is a pattern featuring glistening, lucid raised fruit motifs. The name honors the Florentine della Robbia family, whose generations of artists created raised, enameled terra cotta artworks during the 15th and 16th centuries, incorporating fruit designs, in all likelihood to represent the seasons.
Shown above this example from our offering of early plates, sorbets and ginger ale glasses, is Prudence by Andrea della Robbia. Be less than prudent this Valentine's Day: Treat yourself to something purely pretty, if used only occasionally. Our Della Robbia works like a charm to fill that bill.

Serious Business: Tackling an Underground Issue
Sex Trafficking Tragedy in Our Community and the Actions Being Taken Against It
In the first of our nine Salon Series presentations for 2015, Designing Women Boutique presents Elizabeth Fisher, talking about an issue that isn't widely recognized in our community. Most residents and visitors to our region go about daily business unaware that human trafficking is happening right here in our cities and counties. Elizabeth Fisher is acutely aware as CEO of the non-profit organization Selah Freedom, which exists to confront the issue of sex trafficking and exploitation through advocacy, training and restorative services.
The survivors that Selah Freedom serves are local and have been sold for sex right here in Sarasota, Manatee and Hillsborough Counties. Selah Freedom brings awareness to the issue and provides a safe place for survivors to heal. They help sexually exploited individuals find their voice and purpose and to reclaim all that was stolen from them through their victimization. For a brief introduction to the topic, listen to this 2-minute video. To learn more, come to Elizabeth's Salon Series presentation, details below. A CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
All the glitter and glam of Designing Women Boutique would not happen without what goes on in the Back of the House. DWB is a non-profit organization, but it's also a socially-conscious business that requires all the tools of the retail trade to turn consignments, donations, and purchases into grants for our area's Arts and Human Services organizations. This includes keeping track of every item that comes through our doors for sale...which at last count, was in the multiple 6-figures. Only a certain amount of that process can be automated - and so our people are key.
Do you love handling detail? Do you know your way around a keyboard? If you have the skills, passion, time, and want to be part of this stellar team, please call Annie Sundeen at 941-366-5293.
