Have you heard the story on how we acquired the property?
In 1999, we listed our home in the city for sale after reading the book Country Living. We were motivated to move to the country where we could raise our children away from the influences of the world, grow organic produce, eventually build a health sanitarium where we could educate people on how to prevent and reverse disease, and, finally, to help people prepare physical, mentally, and spiritually for what is about to take place in this world.
Note the following prophetic council from the inspired writings on country living:
Get out of the cities as soon as possible, and purchase a little piece of land, where you can have a garden, where your children can watch the flowers growing, and learn from them lessons of simplicity and purity. (CL 17.3)
Get out of the cities into rural districts, where the houses are not crowded closely together, and where you will be free from the interference of enemies. (CL 9.5)
My warning is: Keep out of the cities. Build no sanitariums in the cities. Educate our people to get out of the cities into the country, where they can obtain a small piece of land, and make a home for themselves and their children. . . . (CL 10.4)
The next day, my wife called to inform me that she had placed a "For Sale by Owner" sign on the front lawn. It was a leap of faith for both of us, but we prayed for the Lord to perform a miracle quickly. Three days later, a man called and said: "I want to buy your house." We were shocked because he did not even ask to see the inside of the house. He told us his parents were moving to the area and the house was perfect. Imagine how grateful we were knowing that God had saved us thousands of dollars in real estate fees since we had not hired an agent. Who needs one, anyway, when you have a heavenly agent working in your behalf for zero commission!
We began our search for a home in the country. We found two pieces of land for sale, but both deals fell through. We continued searching and praying for the right home. Then it happened. The Holy Spirit led us to a stunning 
country property that was for sale. The listing price was way over our budget, but we trusted the Lord had it under control. The three-acre property had two parcels, a gorgeous back yard with a picturesque view of a winding river, an orchard with a variety of fruit trees, grape vines, a park-like setting with a plethora of colorful flowers, garden areas, a parking lot, a huge barn, and an acre of pasture to build a sanitarium. But how would God provide the money to purchase the property.
We knew the Lord had led us to the former plantation once owned by former U.S. Senator Benjamin Langford. He was known as 
"Honest Ben" and the "father of the Senate" in Sacramento in the 1800s. The kind-looking, bearded Benjamin F. Langford was known as the honorable gentleman who championed the tree fruit industry and helped establish a local bank and railroad in Lodi, California. Once a machine worker and miner, Langford carved a large ranch out of the brush land along the Mokelumne River and eventually rose to become Lodi's early statesman and one of the area's most influential men.
The ranch was first established in 1844, according to a drawing I saw on the wall of Ben's old colonial home. Our mighty omniscient God was 
about to transform a subdivided three acre section of Honest Ben's plantation into BellaVita Lifestyle Center--a sanctuary where He would cleanse many body temples and prepare people for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
I will never forget that first day I stood on the large redwood deck gazing at the beautiful Mokelumne River. "God," I said, "This is Your country." Then I heard the Lord speak words that still bring goose bumps on my body to this day: "This is for you my good and faithful servant." The words were not audible that others could hear, but more like a voice that invaded my mind. I knew they were not my own. I gasped, wept, and shouted, "No Lord." The two real estate agents standing by my side stared at me with bewilderment, but said nothing.
Note the following council from the Spirit of Prophecy:
When a sanitarium is established in the country, the sick can breathe the pure air of heaven. As they walk among the flowers and trees, joy and gladness fill their hearts. It is as if the smile of God were upon them, as they look upon the beautiful things He has created to bring joy to their sad hearts. (MM 233.1)
Life in the open air is good for body and mind. It is God's medicine for the restoration of health. Pure air, good water, sunshine, beautiful surroundings--these are His means for restoring the sick to health in natural ways. (MM 233.2)
The fact that in the country all these advantages can be obtained is a powerful incentive to the establishment of a sanitarium in the country. There the institution can be surrounded by flowers and trees, orchards and vineyards. The effect of such surroundings is as it were an elixir of life. (MM 233.3)
The Lord provided the money. The timing and the way the funds came were nothing short of a miracle. When I was a young boy, I took care of a crippled neighbor woman named Doris who contracted polio at the age of 17. She was also an alcoholic. At 11 years old, I started mowing her lawns, but as I got older I also cleaned, shopped, and took her to doctor appointments when needed. The poor soul had no one to help her besides me. Was God grooming me to be a medical missionary worker before I was even a true Christian?
I helped her throughout high school, four years while I attended college, and years after that. I would drive home from UC Davis on weekends to tend to her needs. She witnessed my true conversion to Christ when I was 30 years old, and I witnessed her deliverance from alcohol when she was 75. Only God knew Doris would pass away that day and leave her estate to me, which helped cover the costs needed to buy the 1844 property? And thank God He impressed me to give Bible studies to Doris and lead her to Jesus before she died.
It is God who blesses men with property, and He does this that they may be able to give toward the advancement of His cause. He sends the sunshine and the rain. He causes vegetation to flourish. He gives health and the ability to acquire means. All our blessings come from His bountiful hand. (AA 75.1)
BellaVita is the Lord's property. It was a miracle how God chose a crippled alcoholic to supply the money for the 1844 property, just as He chose Rehab the harlot to house the spies. God's ways are not man's ways (Isaiah 55:8).
