Greetings!
Before we get into this week's message on the National Security Agency and Internet data collection, I want to remind you of the Health and Healing Crusade starting this Friday, June 14, at the Lodi Grape Festival in Lodi, CA. In fact, I will be giving a free copy of my new book, Preparing for the Final Crisis, to each person that attends this year's event. We hope to see many of you there.
 The latest development, as reported by The Guardian newspaper, is that the U.S. government has been secretly gathering intelligence from Internet companies like Facebook, Apple, and Google via the U.S. National Security Agency data-mining project. "That project, along with reports about a secret court order allowing the government to collect phone records for millions of Verizon customers, triggered a renewed debate this week over whether Americans are trading too much privacy for a sense of security.
"President Obama, speaking publicly for the first time on the controversy, said Friday that the programs have made a difference in tracking terrorists and are not tantamount to 'Big Brother.'
"Obama acknowledged that the U.S. government is collecting reams of phone records, including phone numbers and the duration of calls, but said this does not include listening to calls or gathering the names of callers.
"'You can't have 100 percent security and also then have 100 percent privacy and zero inconvenience. We're going to have to make some choices as a society,' Obama said" (Fox News, June 8, 2013).
"Obama stressed that every member of Congress had been briefed on the phone monitoring program and that the relevant Intelligence committees were aware of PRISM - the code name of the NSA's secret program to monitor Internet traffic. He also noted that federal judges had to sign off on data-gathering requests.
"'If people can't trust not only the executive branch but also don't trust Congress and don't trust federal judges to make sure we're abiding by the Constitution, then we're going to have some problems here,' Obama said" (The Hill, June 8, 2013).
Responding to the furor over the National Security Agency's data monitoring programs, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky introduced legislation Friday that requires a warrant be issued before any government agency can search phone records of Americans. Paul calls the revelation of the program to collect phone records of millions of Verizon customers "an astounding assault on the Constitution."
"While some security-focused lawmakers defended the program, others warned that they plan to start reassessing the Patriot Act as early as this month, with the goal of potentially curbing the data collection. ... The Patriot Act provisions are scheduled to expire in 2015 without reauthorization" (Fox News, June 8, 2013).
"The Obama administration has taken a first step toward opening a criminal investigation into the purported leaking of classified documents related to the federal government tracking Americans' phone calls and emails" (Fox News, June 8, 2013).
Since The Guardian reported that the US government is spying on millions of Americans, the Obama Administration has been scrambling to rebuild the confidence of the American people, especially since this news follows the Benghazi cover-up, the IRS's targeting conservative groups, and Associated Press scandal.
This week, President Obama also appointed Susan Rice as National Security Advisor who Republicans continue to claim deliberately lied to the American people about the terror attacks in Benghazi. To say the least, millions of Americans feel violated by the fact that the U.S. government is spying on its own people. Be careful what you post on the Internet, because "Big Brother" is watching you!
What does inspiration have to say on this subject: "Courts of justice are corrupt. Rulers are actuated by desire for gain and love of sensual pleasure. Intemperance has beclouded the faculties of many so that Satan has almost complete control of them. Jurists are perverted, bribed, deluded. Drunkenness and revelry, passion, envy, dishonesty of every sort, are represented among those who administer the laws. "Justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter'" Isaiah 59:14. (The Great Controversy, p. 586).
One of the arguments against the government's PRISM program is that government is delving into our personal and private lives. Only God has the right to do so! Let us willingly open our hearts to the all-seeing eye of the Lord and pray: "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (PSALMS 139:23, 24).

 Esmie Branner - Attended Andrews University Masters Degree program in Social Work. Esmie has worked as a professor at Weimar College, and taught developmental Psychology. She is the author of "Beyond The Veil Of Darkness." A powerful story of her life and spiritual experience in Saudi Arabia during her first marriage to a Muslim. God has been more than gracious to Esmie. He has rescued and saved her, and now she can't help but tell of His greatness. She lives for Christ and the good news of the Gospel. Arthur Branner - He received a Master of Divinity from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He is currently pursuing his Doctoral studies in the area of Biblical Counseling. He is a Captain in the U.S. Army, and served a tour of duty from 2004-2005 in Iraq. It was there his battalion the 250th Military Intelligence conducted over 4,000 dangerous missions. Every soldier returned home without loss of life or limb. He believes that the future of our society is to a large degree determined by the quality of our families. Thus, together with his wife, "Families 4 Him" Ministries was created.
 Daniel Vierra - A fine young man who has spent his life serving the Lord in ministry. Daniel, 26, is manager of Modern Manna and BellaVita Lifestyle Center. Raw Banana Crepes with coconut cream filling
Crepes
4 bananas
1 Tb. lemon juice
Dash of Ceylon cinnamon
Blend until smooth. Pour onto teflex sheet forming circles or using a template. Place in dehydrate at 115 until they can safely be removed. (I left overnight)
Coconut-Cashew Cream Filling
Juice and Meat of 1 Thai Coconut
2 cups Cashews, soaked
1/2 cup agave
2 Tb. vanilla
Blend until smooth and chill.
Stuff crepes with cream and fresh fruit. Garnish with fresh fruit sauce and mint leaves! Buon Appetito!
