The Art of Science 3.0

In 2011, I mentioned to my wife Janet that I would love to create an art show of beautiful images from scientific research, as many of them are stunningly beautiful. It is also a great way for those of us not in the science world to discover more about the great work that is happening right here at the University of Illinois. The great people of the Institute for Genomic Biology helped me make that dream come true. The first Art of Science show was a smashing success, so much so that we had another one last year- Art of Science 2.0

The momentum seems only to be gaining steam. One of the most interesting aspects is a theme for each show. In the first, it was the beauty of the images. In 2.0, what I heard participants talking about was the practical application of the research at IGB- these images come from studies that may significantly impact our lives for the better.

This is you invitation to attend the Art of Science 3.0 on April 18-21, 2013. The opening night is from 6:00 pm to 8:30. There will be music, great food, and a number of the scientists will be there to answer your questions.

Art of Science 3.0

On behalf of all of the staff at BWA, we are very proud to sponsor this event and showcase the profoundly important work happening at IGB.  Join us for Art of Science 3.0!

Inspiring TED Talk
Mullins
Another very strong reason to be proud of the University of Illinois is that the UI has been a leader in access for those with disabilities due to the leadership of Tim Nugent. Nugent Hall is an amazing environment for students with disabilities.

If you have a few minutes, this talk by Aimee Mullins is inspiring and will alter your perception of the word "disabled".
