April showers bring..... well, bright yellow MilitaryByOwner signs!  The "signs" of PCS season are springing up in military neighborhoods across the country. We know what a stressful time this can be for our military families as 85% of our staff is active duty or retired, so we are here to help you whether you need assistance submitting an ad or searching our site for homes. You can reach us via email, phone (866-604-9126),  live chatFacebook and Twitter (@militarybyowner).

We often share the fact that we love to meet with our customers face-to-face and to spread the word about MilitaryByOwner and this month we set out to do just that! Last week our team was at Sea Air Space in Maryland, AUSA in Hawaii and Marine
South at Camp Lejeune and we had a great time meeting our amazing customers and letting those who have yet to hear about us know how we can assist with their military housing needs.

April is the Month of the Military Child and I would like to take this opportunity to say "thank you" to all military children for the amazing sacrifices you make on behalf of your military family member. There are a number of events taking place this month to honor and celebrate our military children, so be sure to check our regional blogs for events taking place near Quantico MCB, MacDill AFB and Camp Pendleton.  Thank you to all military children for your service to our great nation!

With the busy PCS season, it is easy to see how home maintenance items can take a back seat, but tackling them now could make for a smoother transition when it comes time to move. Check out our "Spring Maintenance Tips" below to give your home the attention it needs after the long, hard winter.

As the traffic on our site increases during the PCS season, so do the email messages, chat and phone calls and we love to hear from you, so please feel free to contact us if we can be of any assistance.

Testimonial
MilitaryByOwner.com did it again! Having used the site to successfully rent four different properties, we used it again to advertise our first home "For Sale" and within 2 weeks we had an offer to buy our home site-unseen. The photos and virtual tour we included in our Home Tour Plus ad were what sold the home. We had over 650 views and 15 showings in two weeks! In a slower market with numerous homes offered in our neighborhood, we could not be more pleased with the results of advertising with MilitaryByOwner. We secured our state-specific legal forms from your site and once they were signed and submitted to our closing agent, we were off and running. It could not have been easier! Thank you for creating a military network which simplifies the buying, selling and renting of military housing.

10 Spring Maintenance Tips for Military Homeowners

Spring has finally arrived - at least according to the calendar. While much of the country is still feeling the winter chill, the first official day of spring brings hope of warmer days to come. While home maintenance projects may not make the list of your favorite things, an opportunity to get out into the sun may just make it a bit more appealing. For many it has been a long hard winter, which means it has been equally hard on your home.

Whether you are a military family preparing for another PCS or can look forward to staying put for the time being, this is the perfect time to do some essential sprucing.

Does Force Shaping Mean You'll Have to Move on Base?

Though you may escape the force reductions, force reductions will still mean changes for you; a smaller military, more specifically, could mean changes in your family's housing situation for future assignments.  In many situations, an application for on-base housing now often means a one to two year wait for a housing assignment.  As most military families only remain on assignment for two to three years, waiting for on-base housing seems pointless, if not ridiculous.  That wait list, however, may soon either disappear or shorten.  For those who own rental properties located by military installations, read on!

Real Estate Reality

Much has been made of the real estate mantra "location, location, location." Blogs, articles, datasheets, and research sites as well as brokers, buyers, agents and various other real estate experts have dialogued, discoursed, and dissected the value of location to both buyer and seller.  Many magazines and websites frequently report on the "Top 10" real estate locations across various categories - the "Top Ten Cities for Walkers", the "Top Ten Cities for Retirees", the "Top Ten Cities for Young Couples", the "Top Ten Cities for People Who Wish They'd Thought to Buy Property Here Earlier," and so on.....
