While most of the country is still feeling the chill of winter, spring is just around the corner. For most people spring means longer, warmer days, but for military families spring is signaled by military orders and decisions about housing. The signs of PCS season are all around us here at MilitaryByOwner.com and we are here to assist you with your advertising and home searching needs.
As my family prepares for our own PCS move, I will be sharing my experiences of trying to sell homes both "By Owner" and with a real estate agent. If you have some sage advice you would like to share, I would love to hear it. While I realize there will be bumps along the way, it is my hope that my experience will help other military homeowners who are facing the same endeavor.
As orders are cut, there are bound to be those that are disappointed about their new assignment, but with over 85% of our staff being retired, active-duty or dependent, we know first hand that sometimes the least desirable duty stations have a way of becoming some of our favorites. With this in mind, we are sharing a list of reasons why those receiving orders to MCAS Yuma should not fret. While it is not a tropical paradise, the desert southwest has much to offer. We will continue to share positive aspects of various bases throughout the next few months. If you have something you loved about a "less desirable" duty station, we would love to hear from you.
MilitaryByOwner is growing and with that comes the need to hire capable and enthusiastic individuals that have a desire to help relocating military families. We will be accepting resumes at the Corporate Gray Military Friendly Job Fair in Springfield, VA - March 13, 2014, for full-time blogger/editor, customer service, sales and business advertising representatives. If you are unable to make it to the job fair and are interested in positions in our Stafford, VA office, please send your resume and cover letter to Sharon. Click here for a detailed list of current openings.
This past month we had the great pleasure of attending West 2014, Spouse Experience JBAB and the AUSA Winter Symposium & Exposition. We thoroughly enjoyed speaking with customers that offered their feedback and stories of success in advertising with us and we look forward to the opportunity to meet more of you at future events. Join us March 27 in Fort Lewis for a fun afternoon with Spouse Experience.
If you have any suggestions or if there is anything we can do to make your experience of advertising with us better; please feel free to contact us. You can reach us via email, phone (866-604-9126), live chat, Facebook and Twitter (@militarybyowner). We look forward to speaking with you!

Loved using MilitaryByOwner.com! We were moving from overseas -the website was so user friendly. It was so easy to sort, then pick our home from so far away. It was easy to see the pictures and vision our stuff in that home. I have suggested the site many times and would use it over and over again.

The residents of the Estrella™ community, in Goodyear, Arizona, all come from different places and discovered something special here in the Sonoran Desert. They were drawn to create the life they've always wanted in the three new-home communities of Estrella: Mountain Ranch, Montecito and CantaMia® (55+ Active Adult community). As they make their way up the hill along Estrella Parkway and approach two beautiful lakes and the scenic golf course framed by the Sierra Estrella Mountains, they know they're home in a place unlike any other. They have something that can't be found elsewhere. Something that goes beyond the lush oasis that drew them here. It's a close-knit community that embraced them from day one and will keep them here forever.

Top 10 Reasons to Love MCAS Yuma
"Harriers West", the message read. A seemingly simple note from my fiancé, but the words made my head spin, my heart stop and all oxygen expel from my lungs. It was a moment of clarity that marrying my beloved Marine would mean a lifetime of notes like this announcing each twist and turn of this great adventure. As a California girl, I wasn't sure that living in the desert of Yuma, Arizona was exactly what I had pictured for my future, but what I quickly found out is that the desert southwest had amazing things to offer.

How Virtual Tours Help Sell Military Housing
Let's imagine for a minute that you've just received orders to a duty station half-way across the country with a report date set for four months from now (a good, generous timeline for a PCS by Uncle Sam's standards!). You want to take full advantage of your Permissive TDY to secure off-base housing prior to out-processing from your current duty station; however, your spouse is busy with work and can only secure a three-day weekend for home shopping. Bummer. That leaves you both on a tight schedule, but you want to make sure that you have time to see all of your best options for a home in that time frame; after all, this is a big investment!

5 Tips for Selling Military Housing "By Owner"
After 14 years of being a landlord and sharing advice on how to manage rental properties and foster a relationship with your tenants, I find myself embarking on a new realm of the real estate experience as a seller.
For the past couple of years, I have dispensed tips for military homeowners who are brave enough to sell their homes "By Owner". But truth be told, I have not needed to heed my own advice, until now. So for myself, and other homeowners who are selling a home during this upcoming PCS season, here are five tips for selling military housing "by owner".
