As much of the country continues to find themselves in a deep freeze, it is hard to imagine that the PCS season is just around the corner. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Marine West Expo in Camp Pendleton, CA last month. Todd Garrett joined the Tidewater Home Funding production team as a Licensed Mortgage Consultant in September of 2013. Todd recently retired from the United States Air Force at the grade of Lieutenant Colonel. While serving, he held many leadership and operational positions throughout his distinguished career. Most recently, Todd taught as an Associate Professor at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia. Prior to that assignment, Todd commanded the 9th Airlift Squadron at Dover AFB, DE operating the C-5M Super Galaxy, the Air Force's largest strategic airlifter, transporting cargo and war supplies to our troops all over the globe. Todd is a native of Pennsylvania but calls Hampton Roads home since his wife and two children have settled in and have come to love the community. Todd holds a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, a Master's in Business Administration and a Master's in Space Systems. He looks forward to serving, once again, the needs of our service members in the Hampton Roads area!

6 Military Resources for Reaching Your Goals
The first month of the New Year has officially come to a close and if you are like the majority of Americans, you started the New Year with lofty goals of self-improvement. Military service members and families face unique challenges when it comes to setting and obtaining long-term goals, because much of life is lived in 3-4 year increments. But the good news is, there are also a plethora of resources available that can make short and long-term goals easier to achieve.

Breed Restrictions for On-Base Military Housing
Col. Bob Walter, Director of the Army's Veterinarian Service Activity, sent an Army-wide memo explaining that breed bans on bases do not serve their purpose, as it is the owner, not the breed that determines a dog's behavior. His recommendation called for "...dangerous dog regulations with emphasis on identification of dangerous and chronically irresponsible owners." Some bases, however, tightened their restrictions since this memo in 2012. Camp Lejeune, for example, issued a new policy requiring the annual re-registering of all dogs on base in what seems like an effort to weed out banned dogs, as they also mandated that those banned breeds previously grandfathered in could no longer remain on base.
