Letter from the Editor                                                                            January 2014
Happy New Year!

MilitaryByOwner Advertising, Inc. would like to thank all of our customers for an incredible 2013! Once again, we experienced record growth and continue to look forward to meeting the needs and desires of our customers in 2014! We have some great things to look forward to and we cannot wait to share the news with you.

January brought a 1% military pay raise, along with the release of Basic Allowance for Housing rates for 2014. View the new rates here.

While most of the country has been gripped by record-breaking cold, the beautiful state of Hawaii enjoys warm, sunny days. So this month we thought we would share the warmth with everyone by featuring a gorgeous home located near Schofield Barracks on Oahu.

If 2014 brings with it plans to purchase a home, be sure to read our "2014 Military Housing Outlook" article for information on the hot housing markets around the country and our "4 Reasons to Buy a Home in the Winter", which will help start you down the path to home ownership.

MilitaryByOwner enjoys the opportunity to meet face-to-face with past, present and future customers and this month we will be participating in Marine West in California, so please stop by and see us if you will be in attendance.

2014 Military Housing Outlook

It is upon us once again - the time of year we resolve to find more time, eat less food, save more money and so on and so on. Certainly there are numerous statistics showing how many fail to keep their New Year's Resolutions, but if this year's list includes buying a home, then this may be the one resolution you should strive to keep.

With frequent relocation constantly on the horizon for military service members and their families, arriving at the decision to buy a home likely felt like a death-defying ride on a roller coaster.

4 Reasons to Buy a Home in the Winter

Baby, it's cold outside, but if you are in the market to buy a home, this could be the perfect time to heat up your search.  We recently took a look at the advantages of selling your home during the holiday season, so let's flip the coin and look at it from the buyers side.

Less Competition

The hurried pace of the PCS season is still a few months off, and even though buyers can search for homes from the comfort of their own home using sites like MilitaryByOwner.com, there is decidedly less competition for homes in the winter months.

Protect Your Home from Winter's Chill

While much of the country experienced record-breaking heat on the first day of winter, occasional warm-ups may fool you into believing that Old Man Winter will take a break this year, but undoubtedly the mercury will drop again soon. Cost saving measures are important to military families, so taking preventive measures to prepare you, your family and your military housing for the cold weather will help lower utility costs and will keep your family safe and warm.
