Letter from the Editor
November is a month rich with opportunity to give thanks and pay tribute to the special people in our lives. As Veterans Day nears, let us take a moment to recognize the true meaning of this day. This is more than a day off of work or school; it is a chance to honor and celebrate America's veterans for their love of country, their sacrifice, and their willingness to serve so that we can enjoy the freedoms that America is known for. Thank you to all of our veterans, active duty military service members and the families that serve along side.
November is also Military Family Month, as we recognize the "force behind the force". The family members and loved ones who support the men and women of our Armed Forces are critical to force readiness and your commitment and sacrifice is very much appreciated.
To the Marines around the world, we wish you a Happy 238th Birthday on November 10, 2013. Thank you for your service to this great country. Stand tall and proud and enjoy celebrating, as you can rest assured we celebrate along with you!
We value our customers for their support of our site, their insight and suggestions on ways to improve and for continuing to spread the word about our site. Why You Should Google Your Next Military House
The preponderance of military families are well versed in the art of Googling everything they need to explore their next duty station, from BAH rates, schools, base amenities and of course, military housing. But how many military home seekers have thought to Google the address of a potential home?
Whether you are planning on renting or buying, searching the address of potential homes can reveal important information that could impact the decision you make. In all likelihood, you will see nothing more than information about estimated home values, but be sure to look past the first page of results and see what might be lurking below.

Smell to Sell?
Is it possible that home selling might involve more than just cents and sense? Could the unique scent of your home be keeping buyers away?
We have discussed the importance of staging your home for selling, but maybe we need to dig a little deeper into your personal space. It is highly likely that you have entered a friend or family member's home and were struck by an odor, be it good or bad. You may have even entered your own home after an extended absence and wondered if this is what your home smells like to others.
Our sense of smell can drive us from the front door of a restaurant or from a smoke laden hotel room, so can it do the same thing to buyer who enter your home? The answer is yes!

Making Military Housing Feel Like Home
Military families are experts in living a transient lifestyle, particularly when it comes to making a multitude of houses a home. Whether the choice is made to live in military housing on base or in an off-base rental, it can be challenging to creating personal style without making permanent changes to the home. Modern products and conveniences however are making it easier than ever to make military housing feel like home.
We discussed "How to Get Your Security Deposit Back", an important component of which is to obtain prior approval before making any of the suggested changes.

Testimonial
I'm a former Honorably Discharged Army Veteran who just bought my first home using my VA Home loan. My wife owned a home when we first met and we decided to try to rent it on our own. We tried Craig's List, I ran advertisements in the local paper spending over $199, and even hired a management company. My wife's co-workers, who have had success with www.MilitaryByOwner.com and are Military Veterans, shared your company's website. I decided to create a profile. It was easy! It made us more confident and I had no trouble deciding to use the $79 option. I received qualified emails and phone calls from local families in the military who were serious about renting. The shared experience of the military made me feel even more secure with my prospective tenants. I showed the home twice the SAME weekend I posted it and we now have a signed lease! I will continue to recommend www.MilitaryByOwner.com I'm Marketing Manager of 13 local self storage facilities in Hampton Roads. www.americanclassicstorage.com. I am going to be sharing your webpage with all of my managers and customers.
