Letter from the Editor
Well, it is finally here, the "un-official" end of summer and what some parents deem the "most wonderful time of the year"!
It is that time where we settle back into a routine and enjoy a little more freedom with the kids back in school, but it is hard to beat the ease of summer! We hope that you enjoyed a fun and restful summer as we move into Fall.
Our focus this month is to provide our military subscribers with a wealth of information on the educational resources that are available to you and your family.
Our Featured Article and Military Life Segment will address the emotional, financial and educational challenges that military students and families face as a result of frequent relocation. There are a number of resources available to help make these transitions easier, so please be sure to read more about how they may help you and your student this school year.
We are thrilled to introduce you to our most recent Business Advertisers in our "Welcome" segment. We appreciate their service to the military community and love the fact that they are using MilitaryByOwner to reach this unique market.
The Featured Home this month comes from a loyal customer of ours who previously advertised his home For Rent, but has decided that the time has come to sell. It is a gorgeous home in close proximity to a number of bases in the Norfolk, VA area, which he hopes will be loved by another family as much as he has for the past 28 years.
We want to thank our customers who continue to spread the word about our site. Word of mouth is still our number one form of advertising! It is clear that within the military network, it is important to provide service that is worth passing on, so please do not hesitate to contact us if there is ever anything we can do to make your advertising experience better.
Also, if you would like to share a testimonial of your experience advertising with MilitaryByOwner, we would love to hear from you.

Educational Assistance Programs for Military Students
It is back to school for military students across the country and while we have discussed the expenses of back to school supplies, we wanted to share the vast financial resources that are available to military families with students of all ages.
ThanksUSA
A wonderful, charitable organization that says "thank you" to the children and spouses of our Armed Forces through the gift of education. ThanksUSA provides scholarships on a need-based criterion and brings awareness and much needed donations to the program through a fun and interactive scavenger hunt that will entertain children and parents alike.
"ThanksUSA is a non-partisan, charitable effort to mobilize Americans of all ages to "thank" the men and women of the United States armed forces. We're doing that by providing need-based college, technical and vocational school scholarships for their children and spouses."

6 Important Marketing Strategies for Military Homes "For Rent"
Marketing is key when it comes to renting or selling your home. This is particularly crucial for military members who own off-base military housing and need to rent or sell their home in a hurry.
The very essence of MilitaryByOwner.com is to assist military homeowners with the marketing of their home and while we have shared "15 Tips for Marketing Your Home for Sale", we believe it is equally important to market homes that are "For Rent by Owner".
- Internet Advertising - Utilize MilitaryByOwner.com and other real estate web sites to market your home. We often tell our customers that you never know where your tenant may come from, so spreading the word as far as possible is an effective strategy. If you have a target market, such as the military, then choose sites that advertise specifically to those individuals.

Help Military Students Ease Into a New School Year
As a new school year begins for our military students, it is a time of great trepidation for parents as we worry and wonder how our kids will adjust and fit in to yet another new school.
Military children, on average, will move six to nine times during their K-12 educational years. While "milkids" are resilient and adaptive, new surroundings can create anxiety and stress that may have social, emotional or academic consequences. As parents, it is difficult to watch our children struggle with transitions, but if we are able to identify the issues, relate to what our kids are going through and seek help from the resources that are available, then we can help our children thrive in their new environment.
Here are a few resources that can help you and your military student.

Testimonial
Our first renters came all the way from France and stayed for 3 years (NATO), the second family were American and stayed for 1.5 years, and the family moving in next month are also American and will stay for 2 years.
We sure have been lucky!
Thanks - I would recommend this site to anyone who has a house to rent in a military town.
