Space A Travel - Getting On a Flight
Military service members and their dependents have unique travel opportunities through the utilization of Space A (short for space available) travel. The Department of Defense allows eligible passengers to fill unused space on military transport flights that literally cross the globe.
In 2010, I wrote about our first experience in, "Space A Adventure" and since then we have enjoyed a follow-on trip to Spain and are in the midst of planning another adventure to Italy, all courtesy of military transport flights. Along the way we have learned a few things that may help other military families debating on whether or not to embark on this adventure.

PCS Challenges with College Age Military Kids
Some years ago, a friend of mine, married to an active duty soldier, faced a challenge. Their eldest daughter graduated from High School and applied for and was accepted into one of this countries fine Universities. The issue? The family was on PCS orders to Germany. So, as their first child was embarking on her first adventure away from home ... home, as that child knew it, was going away as well! I felt for my friend but didn't really understand the impact of the event and the emotions the family must have been going through as my children at that time were still young. Well, now I am in the hot seat. I have two in college and a third leaving this summer, but the difference is that after 5 years in one place, my husband and I have a PCS move coming up. The Army has been good to us and respected our wishes to stay in one place for the High School years, so, for my eldest two children there has been a sense of a familiar place to return for summers - until now. Home base, as my children know it, will be no more.

Testimonial
I have used MilitaryByOwner twice in 4 years, each time my house rents before the signs show up to put in the yard.
The Home Plus Package is essential for the renter(s) to see more pictures of your home. It is the best tool for out of state military.
Thanks, MilitaryByOwner! I will be seeing you again in 3 years.
