Dinwiddie Launches Youth Workforce Development Initiative
 
Beginning with 2013's Career & Technical Education Career Pathways Forum, Dinwiddie County introduced its partnership with local schools in developing programs for students to learn about the opportunities and resources available to them after school.  This year, the Youth Workforce Development Initiative kicked off with two new events: February's Industry Day and the upcoming Teen Expo on May 31st.
2014 Buy Fresh Buy Local Food Guide Now Available
The 2014 Buy Fresh Buy Local Food Guide is a regional effort of South Centré Corridors Resource Conservation & Development Council and local partners to connect consumers in the region to the freshest and most delicious locally grown produce and products available.

The Food Guide lists local farmers markets and producers in Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Emporia, Greensville, Hopewell, Petersburg, Prince George, Southampton, Surry and Sussex.
Virginia Cooperative Extension Celebrating 100 Years  

Celebrating the 100-year anniversary of Virginia Cooperative Extension and the important service it provides to the people of the commonwealth, on May 8, 2014 -- Virginia Cooperative Extension Day.

Congress passed the Smith-Lever Act on May 8, 1914, creating the Cooperative Extension Service, a state-by-state national network of educators who extend university-based knowledge to the people.

Spring Career Fair is May 14th     

Collaborative effort of The City of Petersburg, Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) Tri-Cities.

Date: May 14th; 10a.m. to 2p.m.
