Virginia Medicaid Commission Schedules Public Hearing

Virginia's  Medicaid Commission will hold its first-ever public hearing in Richmond on Tuesday, October 15, starting at 1pm. The purpose of the hearing is to receive comments on reforms being considered as the Commission determines whether or not to expand Medicaid in Virginia for newly eligible individuals pursuant to the Affordable Care Act. Comments may be made in-person at the hearing or online now.  You can also view citizen comments to-date. Nonprofit Virginia will hold a discussion and information session with Commission member, Senator Walter Stosch, today, October 1st at 1:00PM in Richmond. The focus will be health care reform implementation, and the role of the nonprofit sector in state budget and policy decisions.
Health Insurance Marketplace Opens Oct. 1

Today is the deadline for employers to provide notices to their employees about the availability of the new health insurance marketplaces under the Affordable Care Act. The open enrollment period to purchase health insurance coverage for 2014 through the Health Insurance Marketplace runs October 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014. In Virginia, information is available at,  www.enroll-virginia.com, and through a telephone help line.
1st Annaul Tri-Cities Fall Job Fair

Virginia Employment Commission in partnership with Petersburg, Hopewell-Prince George, and Colonial Heights Chambers of Commerce, are hosting the 1st Annual Tri-Cities Fall Job Fair at the AMerica Legion Pst 284, 505 Springdale Ave in Colonial Heights on October 2 from 10am - 2pm. Looking to go beyond the basics? This fast-paced course will provide an overview of intermediate Excel tasks including list and filter; advance formatting; linking data between worksheets and files; and charting features. 

Tech Courses are lab-based learning opportunities offering more in-depth skill-development and comprehension of a particular tool or technology topic.
