Seventeen organizations working to improve the quality of life for residents in the Tri-Cities/Southside region received grants from The Cameron Foundation. The two largest grant awards were to the Appomattox Educational Foundation for $225,000 to support its work in partnership with the Appomattox Regional Governors School to restore a building on its property and to Virginia's Gateway Region for $225,000 to support continuation of the "Driving Regional Growth, Embracing Global Future" initiative. "Almost half of the grant awards this cycle were in the areas of health and human services, which are central to Cameron's purpose as a health legacy foundation," reported Cleveland Wright, chair of the grants committee.
