Prepare for Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy is expected to bring flooding and high winds to Virginia starting today and into tomorrow. In preparation, Gov. McDonnell has issued a state of emergency. The VA Dept of Emergency Management provides regular updates and information on preparing. Locally, Congressman Forbes' Office has issued a comprehensive resource guide. Be safe.

The Cameron Foundation Names New President

The Cameron Foundation recently named Petersburg resident Todd Graham as President of the foundation  to succeed Handy L. Lindsey, Jr. who will be stepping down at the end of the year. For the past year, Todd Graham served as the executive director of the Robins Foundation in Richmond and before that, he was the CEO of the Iowa West Foundation. "It will be a privilege to build on the good work of Handy Lindsey and the team he assembled as together we capitalize on the significant opportunities ahead," stated Graham. After a nationwide search encompassing over 220 sources and prospects in 35 states, Graham will officially begin work at The Cameron Foundation in December of 2012.

Over $1 Million Awarded to Local Nonprofits
The Cameron Foundation has announced it last grant awards for the year totaling $1,095,900. Grantees include Battersea Foundation ($50,000), Colonial Heights Food Pantry ($90,000), Crater Community Hospice ($97,500), Prince George County Regional Heritage Center ($70,000) and The James House ($55,000).
