 Dear Alums,

What is God doing in your life right now?  Is He showing His blessings to you in some unique ways?  It's fairly easy to go through our days and weeks "doing" and forget to truly contemplate all that our mighty Lord has for us!

May you be stretched and grow in 2010.  Let who God is and how He is at work in this world touch your heart and life on a daily basis!

MCC NOW 2010
2nd Annual Campus Campaign

mccnowGod is so good!  Our 2nd annual MCC NOW Campus Campaign took place Jan. 25-29.  The purpose of the campaign is to promote school spirit, build school pride, and honor the Lord by providing support for a specific need on campus. All who chose to support the campaign gave a minimal gift and received a cool MCC NOW t-shirt (artwork shown above).  Our goal was $5,000.00, and $5,795.00 was given by faculty, staff and students.  The 2010 funds will go to purchase the needed sound equipment for the Wilson Family Worship Center in Jolliffe Hall.

How did MCC make a difference in your life? MCC really provided me with the opportunity to grow and stretch myself in not only God's word but also in leadership areas.  While at MCC, I had the privilege of playing a lead role in the Student Activities Committee and leading a small group.  The relationships built with professors like Dr. Davis, Mr. York, and Mr. Sagstetter were truly a blessing and it was great to know that I could go and talk to them whenever I needed to.  MCC was not only great preparation for the ministry but also great support as I am in ministry now.

MCC's touch on Haiti;
Haiti's touch on MCC

Since the recent earthquake catastrophe in Haiti in January, all of us have been touched in some way, but some within our MCC family have experienced even more than the normal need to pray and give financially to the ravished country.

Kurt('88) and Stacy(attended) Mortensen and family pastor in OK City and have had a relationship with Haiti through short term mission trips for a while, but since the earthquake their lives have drastically changed as the orphan girl they sponsor suddenly needed a permanent home along with several others.  Kurt and Stacy are now proud parents of 12 year old Widsherline. Brian Medaris (CE professor) and his wife Nikki (adjunct prof.) and 2 sons had just started the adoption process a couple months ago for 2 small Haitian boys, and were told it would be at least a 2 year process.  After the earthquake, they found out that the boys were to become part of their family - now!  As of mid-February, 1 year old John Peter and 3 year old Gregory are in Manhattan living with the Medaris family.

Nicole Long ('02) just returned from a trip to Haiti with the Global Orphan Project - a trip formed quickly in response to the crisis and tremendous need for the orphanages in the country.  Supplies were taken, needs were met, and love was given to these children and workers so deeply affected.

Finally, one of our MCC students organized a "penny drive" for Haiti, and the student body raised $280.00 to be sent for relief help.

If you have something to share regarding ministry to the country of Haiti following the January disaster, please post a note on our MCC facebook alumni page!
Jolliffe Hall Update - Winter 2010

 The beautification of Jolliffe Hall continues- loungein January, Sherry Miles from Aurora, CO came to MCC and graciously gave of her time, talent, and resources to create many plant and flower arrangements to decorate all 3 floors of Jolliffe(lounge shown above). On the 2nd floor, a pew from the former chapel has been restored and set between 2 pillars (also saved from former building and restored) across from the MCC History Room.
Thank you for taking the time to read this e-newsletter!  I appreciate all your letters, emails, and calls with great ideas and encouragement to help us all stay connected as MCC family!
Please keep Womans World 2010 in your prayers - we'll have around 800 women for our "Amazing Girlfriends" weekend - praise the Lord!
Continue to be bold in your faith, live for Jesus, and keep praying for Manhattan Christian College!

Sincerely,
