Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are saddened to inform you that this evening that Novato High School has experienced a tragedy that will impact our school community. While the details of the incident are still developing, we do know that Novato High School students were involved in a shooting in Novato. We are continuing to work closely with law enforcement as they investigate and work on this case.
To ensure the safety of students and staff, and due to the uncertainty surrounding this situation, we are closing Novato High School on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
Our focus is on supporting the families of those involved and all of students and staff who will be impacted by this tragedy. We have implemented our school's emergency plan to respond to the situation and to help our students and their families. Students and staff will react in different ways to emergencies of this nature, so we will have school psychologists and counselors available to assist as they express their feelings related to this event on Tuesday, May 31.
Thank you for your support of our school and our students, as we work together to cope with this tragedy. Please observe your child closely over the next several days and weeks to watch for signs of distress that may indicate a need for additional support and guidance.
