Highlights: Varsity boys - Segio Melendez after a very bad knee injury (and surgery) during football season is starting to slowly make it back to his last year's Winning form. His knee is nowhere close to fully healed. Last year he PR with a top shot put throw of 47' 5", yesterday he took two first, a shot put of 42' 3" and a PR on discus which was also a first of 121' 9". Besides being very talented Sergio is one of the hardest worker and is a great person! We also brought a JV boy up to Varsity that had an immediate impact for our Varsity. Branden Taylor did an outstanding job in the 4 X 100 relay, came in 3rd in the 100meter 11.7, 4th in the 300h 49.3 and in his 2nd day of long jump came in 4th with a Jump of 16'6 inches with his speed he is just scratching the surface of his ability. Varsity Girls - Tori Buckley is one of the toughest and intense competitors on our track team. She does both relays, runs the 800 and does the pole vault. She wants to be a heptathlete. She came in 1st in pole vault yesterday with a height of 8 feet, most 1st year vault have trouble making opening height. Way to go! Racheal Callejes won 1st place in shot put with a throw of 26' 4". She on her way to 28 feet next! Junior Varsity Boys- 1. Jason Poels is emerging as a very tough competitor. He did 4 events both relays and 100h. His 11.8 100 meter was a first place besides 1st in the 4x400. 2. Forrest Mulech yesterday had two 1st place finishes and 2 second place finishes. 3. Gabe Garcia is doing a great job with a 1st in the long jump and a 1st in the 300 hurdles. 4. Santiago LoGiuduce came in 1st in the 400 with a time of 56.9 and a 3rd in the 200 with a time of 25.4.
"The track meet was a 4 ½ meet very long yesterday. I am very proud of all of you. You tried your best, cheer each other on, supported each other, competed fairly and learn to play with adversity or roll with the punches when some did not. The same qualities we all need to acquire in life." - Coach Ferrigno
