The NHS PTSA Scholarship Application is now available. If you joined the PTSA by December 18, 2015 and have a 2.5 or higher you are eligible to apply. Applications are available in the College and Career Center and attached here (See link below).
As part of the application process you are required to give a 2-4 minute presentation to the PTSA Scholarship Committee on April 18th or 19th between 6 and 8pm. The prompt for the presentation is in the application.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, APRIL 1, 2016* - Please return to Mary Grillo in the College and Career Center.
PRESENTATION SIGN UP DEADLINE: APRIL 8, 2016 - Please see Mary Grillo to sign up for your presentation.
* NHS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROCESS
Scholarships applications are judged blind. When students turn in their application to the College and Career Center, the applicant's name is taken off and a number assigned before the applications are turned over to the committee for review in order to maintain anonymity.
Committee members will review each application and score it. Those scores are turned in before the live presentations. Each presentation will also be scored. After the presentations, those scores are turned in and combined with the written application scores by an impartial person outside of the scholarship committee.
Scholarships are not based on academic excellence, but on the combination of experiences the student has had in and out of school, the completeness and thoughtfulness of the application, and the preparation and ideas shared during the presentation. The number of scholarships awarded may change from year to year based on the number of applicants and the budget. Not every student who applies is awarded a scholarship.
