60 and over survey !
|
Hi All, Last year the County of Marin conducted a survey to address workforce housing in our community. Now there is an interest in getting information from members of our community who are 60 years of age or older (which includes me :) .....) to help determine the county's goals, activities, and funding priorities for federal and county funds for the next four years. If you are a part of this group, you may want to complete the following survey and share the link as broadly as possible within our community. Paper surveys are available in English, Spanish and Vietnamese to those who need it by contacting the Department of Health and Human Services at (415) 473-3696.

Thank you for helping make our community a better place to live!

UPDATE: CASSPP Testing Results and Student Score Reports
The California Department of Education (CDE) has indicated that the testing results from last year's California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) testing will be available by mid-September.
Individual student score reports will be mailed to parents once the district receives them from the state. It is unknown when NUSD will be receiving the student score reports but the CDE has indicated they began mailing them in late August and it will take at least one month for all reports to be sent to the districts. For information about the Student Score Report that parents of students in grades 3-8 and 11 last year will receive can be found on the CAASPP Individual Score Reports webpage.

Free Sports at Dominican
|
Hello,
I hope the year is off to a great start for you and your families! I am happy to share information about a great after school sports program for Marin middle and high school students offered by Dominican University of California. This free sports program, being held in the new Dominican sports facility, Allen Athletics Complex, offers sports programs, sport clinics, and open gym time. Additionally, they offer transportation from Terra Linda and San Rafael high schools and possibly other central locations Attached is the schedule in both English and Spanish. The program currently runs from 3:30 to 5:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The program was for high schools students last year and they have now expanded middle student students. All students from Marin are invited. This is a great opportunity for kids to play sports and an especially good opportunity for families who may not be able to afford to pay for sports clinics or recreation programs for their kids. Please share with the parents in your schools.
If you need additional information, please contact the Cory Hansen, the Coordinator, at cory.hansen@dominican.edu or feel free to contact my office if we can assist in any way.

SAT Bootcamp coming to Novato High!
You don't have to be a genius to outsmart the SAT. Catalyst's SAT Bootcamps arm students with go-to strategies for every question they'll face on the day of the test so they can march into the test with confidence, momentum, and every key strategy fresh in their mind. After Catalyst's SAT Bootcamp here at Novato High School, you'll know how to write a perfect essay for any question they ask, how to avoid the biggest answer traps, and how to tackle every type of question that's guaranteed to be on the test!
A Catalyst Bootcamp is coming up!
Catalyst is offering a two-day SAT Bootcamp to be held at Novato High on September 20 and September 27. Students attend both days. This is ideal for students planning to take the SAT on October 3. Catalyst offers a reduced price of $95 for all students who qualify for free and reduced lunch, and NHS Academic Boosters will also have scholarships available. Please contact Assistant Principal Nickl in the counseling office to request a scholarship. A portion of the proceeds from all full price sign ups for this Bootcamp will benefit NHS Academic Boosters. Sign up soon to reserve your spot! For more details, see the attached flyer and visit the Catalyst website: www.CatalystPrep.com .
Reilly Crabbs, Class of 2015, took this course, and here is what she had to say: "Catalyst Prep Bootcamp seems daunting at first, two full days of SAT prep, ugh. But, the class is extremely interactive and the time flew by. At Catalyst Prep Bootcamp I learned many tricks I didn't even know I needed. My SAT score raised 200 points after this Bootcamp. This class is a 10/10. I would definitely recommend it!"
IMPORTANT: We must have a minimum of 15 students sign up to hold the boot camp. To date 6 students are signed up. Grab a friend and sign up today!

URGENT!
CHAIR(S) FOR BLACK AND GOLD AUCTION NEEDED!
(PEOPLE, NOT FURNITURE!)
|
Do you love getting together with your friends and other parents to support Novato High School?
Do you want NHS PTSA to continue offering amazing programs like after school tutoring, scholarships, and classroom support?
Do you want NHS PTSA to continue to offer excellent resources such as the newly renovated library and other campus improvements?
The monies raised at the Black and Gold Auction are critical to funding the events and programs PTSA supports at NHS and we need your help!
Please consider helping the PTSA with this very important and special event. We are envisioning a fun evening with dinner, a small silent auction, an exciting Fund a Need opportunity and an assortment of exclusive Pay to Play signups. Much of the groundwork has already been laid - we already have a strong team of experienced committee volunteers, as well as the site, an emcee, and entertainment. Our past chair has even graciously made herself available for consultation. We just need a new leader to step up (or leaders - grab a friend to help!) You could be the person to ensure this is another magical and memorable event and to help PTSA continue its programs for the year. Contact Beth DeWitt, PTSA President at
or 415/234-6899 to start the conversation and make a difference in your high school community!
