Donate Today to the Teacher Gift Fund!
We've come to the end of another school year and it's time to thank our wonderful teachers and staff!  But how does one family thank all the many teachers and staff that we love at Novato High?  By participating in a group gift, of course!  Your PTSA Hospitality Committee is coordinating gifts for ALL of our hard working teachers and WE NEED YOUR HELP to make this happen.  We are accepting donations of ANY amount that will go toward a fun end of the year gift and luncheon (on June 12th) for the staff.  A few of you have already donated to this cause, and we THANK YOU!  But there are many who can still participate.  Just write a check to Kristin Van Weele and send it to her home at 1415 Monte Maria Avenue, Novato, CA 94947 or drop it in the PTSA box in the office clearly marked for teacher gifts.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

PTSA Honors Volunteer of the Year - Leslie Crabbs & Others
Parent Leslie Crabbs was celebrated as NHS PTSA's Volunteer of the Year.  The speech honoring her is below:
"Tireless, Energetic, Creative, Enthusiastic... are all words that could be used to describe and celebrate Leslie Crabbs.  From the moment she arrived in Novato with her family, she has thrown herself into supporting Novato High School, MSA and the athletics department.  She has chaired the Black & Gold fundraiser for the last several years raising thousands of dollars that have enabled the PTSA to support our students in new ways.  Leslie has participated in the Academic Boosters and the Sports Boosters, advising and leading while helping them to raise the needed funds to meet their goals.  But it doesn't stop there... If she isn't handing out flyers about Safe Grad night at sporting events or coordinating Fun Runs to support programs for our kids, Leslie can be seen timing at swim meets, sharing her black and gold swag at water polo meets to cheer the team on to victory.  As her daughter graduates this year, Leslie will leave behind an amazing legacy for our school through all the programs and committees she has led and supported.  Most importantly though she has raised the bar for all of us as volunteers for the school and members of the PTSA."

California Assessment of Student Performance & Progress Results

As of May 29, 2015, all schools within NUSD completed the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).  The testing began on April 20 and ran for six weeks with each school testing for 2-3 weeks.  The California Department of Education (CDE) has communicated that the electronic results will be available to districts four weeks after the testing has concluded.  The CDE has also communicated that the individual Student Score Reports will be sent to districts eight weeks after testing is complete.  School districts then have 20 days to mail them to parents and/or guardians.  NUSD anticipates receiving the individual Student Score Reports by the end of July and mailing them out in August.

Olompali Bird Walk

Saturday, June 13th, 2015

8:30 am - Noon

Olompali State Historic Park

Late Spring Migration is happening with several species still here from Central and South America!  This is an exciting time to bird watch at Olompali State Historic Park beginning and experienced birders are invited to join leaders Rich Cimino and Janet Bodle of Yellowbilled Tours to view Olompali's diverse avian residents as we walk the old ranch road past the park's reservoir.  Expect to see some migrating species as well as a wide variety of species who thrive in the park's oak savanna and open grasslands:  raptors, warblers, nuthatches, thrushes and - of course - many woodpeckers.  Sharpen your bird-identification skills, gain a deeper appreciation for our local ecology and have a lot of fun along the way.  Families are welcome!

Meet in the Olompali parking lot at 8:30 am.  Wear layered clothing and bring binoculars, lunch, plenty of water and a birding field guide if you have one.
